Hi! My name is Alyssa and I am the one you will be meeting and talking with!
I am a New Braunfels local, born and raised, and my German roots trace back to the beginnings of this great city. (If interested, I can tell you more when we meet!)
I was a Canyon Cougar who then graduated from Texas A&M in College Station. Gig'Em!
Despite my fathers efforts to get me to sell insurance like he had been doing for the past 20 years, after college I ended up in Houston, where I worked for a medical device company.
In 2018, my mother was diagnosed with Triple Negative Breast Cancer (TNBC) and Thyroid Cancer. In 2019, my father took her to the ER as she had terrible pain and could barely walk. We were given horrible news...the breast cancer had spread everywhere her body.
I quit my job, moved back home to New Braunfels, and became her full time caretaker for rehab, chemo, radiation, meals and everything else.
My mother was terrified of treatment because she saw her mother go through it and endure the worst. Throughout the course of her cancer, she sought many different opinions and treatments. Luckily she was able to do this because of the insurance she had and it gave her so much peace during a really difficult time.
If you haven't heard of TNBC, it is the most aggressive type of breast cancer and at the time, there was no FDA approved treatments specifically for TNBC.
I saw so many other people that could not go to the doctors she went to because they were not covered on their plan and they could not afford paying the cost out of pocket.
I heard of so many drugs not covered fully by health plans that people were struggling to pay for because they were so expensive.
I realized how truly blessed we were that my father had her on the plan she was on and she had so much freedom with her treatment.
I love helping people and wanted to make a difference in an area that many find confusing. I learned from him, and together we continue to host seminars to help educate seniors about their Medicare options.
